Job Opening – Library Assistant

The Grafton Community Library will be hiring a part-time Library Assistant, to work 7 hours per week on Fridays 3:00 – 7:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am-1:00 pm.

The position requires a capable multi-tasker who can handle the fast pace of the circulation desk during weekend hours. Responsibilities include checking in books and media items, assisting patrons with requests, and registration of new borrowers.  The position requires computer and keyboarding skills, the ability to assist patrons who are using library computers, and use of the Internet to find information.

Additional capabilities include the ability to work well with people, show sensitivity to the needs of children, and demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service.

We’ve got Tadpoles!

Stop in at the library and see the tank of newly hatched tadpoles, on loan to us courtesy of the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center.  These little creatures will slowly grow legs and lose their tail, on the way to becoming Wood Frogs.  Owood frognce they are mature, they will be returned to the wild at Dyken Pond.

This tie-in with nature is an opportunity to promote the theme of our upcoming Summer Reading Program, Make a Splash…Read!

flyer-Gift Basket Raffle The Library will raffle a holiday gift basket to benefit the Library. The winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday, December 19, at the Library. Tickets prices are one dollar each or six tickets for five dollars.

Give the basket as a gift, keep it as a treat for yourself or use the goodies as individual gifts. The basket is brimming with a variety of books to please everyone on your gift list, including titles by popular authors Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, Nora Roberts and Barbara Kingsolver. Bestseller The Jane Austen Book Club is included as well as Flags of Our Fathers. For the animal lover, the tales of Dewey the library cat, and of Marley the rambunctious Labrador retriever are included. There is also a garden mystery and more.

To accompany your reading, brew a cup of the Green Mountain coffee, mug included, or indulge in some chocolates. Additional items in the basket include hand-rolled beeswax candles, a music CD, movie DVD, book sox, a Burt’s Bees essentials kit, mini gingerbread kit and party napkins.
